Our Wellness Secret Weapons

It was going so well, until it wasn’t. When we first launched Maison Haven back in 2018, nothing fully prepared us for start-up life. We were so busy from the get-go (Amen to that), that we regularly skipped lunch on projects, worked every night after the kids went to bed, and rose at dawn to complete all the other tasks that running a business entailed. Surprise, surprise, the wheels fell off. Four months in, my bout of flu turned into pneumonia turned into an ambulance ride turned into a three-night hospital stay. Enough was enough.
We realized there was no Maison Haven without its founders. So we made a pact. Self-care moved up the to-do list. We built lunch into our working day. We softened the schedule. We adopted self-care routines. Since we upped our wellness intake, we haven’t looked back. Given the global health crisis, self-care feels more important than ever. Which is why we’re sharing our wellness weapons with you!
*I kick off the day with...
a tall glass of water before I get out of bed, and an old-fashioned alarm clock (my phone sleeps in my closet so I’m not tempted to check it first and last thing)
*Morning rituals...
a couple of drops of Vitruvi’s Boost essential oil blend on a hot flannel over my face, and a large coffee
